Getting rid of that stubborn grease in your home
Many people are spending more time in the kitchen than ever. Maybe have always loved cooking, or perhaps you are just starting to enjoy it. Whatever may your reason for cooking at home, grease is something that we all enjoy. Grease is one of the most difficult soils to remove.
Warm water and dishwashing soap work together to clean all soils, including grease. Technicians begin every kitchen cleaning with a bucket full of warm water and soap. The technicians use the bucket to scrub away grease using a microfiber cloth. It is safe for all surfaces.
You can prevent or address grease in your home by following these steps:
- Clean your stovetop after every use. Yes. Always. This is the best way to fight grease. It's a good idea to include it in your cleanup routine after meals so that grease doesn't have the chance of building up.
- Dish soap can remove grease very effectively. It is formulated to remove grease residue from dishes and can be used on stovetops or in the microwave.
- Citrus oils are great to use for breaking down grease. Orange essential oils can improve the smell of dish soap. It can also make cleaning easier.
- Grease spills are often cleaned up by dusting flour over them. Although it might seem counterintuitive, won't it just make the mess more? The flour absorbs grease, making it easier to see the mess and easy to clean up.
- Baking soda added with water can help get rid of grease in pots and pans. Baking soda, an alkali substance, is very effective in breaking down grease. Use a small amount of water, baking soda, or soda water to warm the pan. It will make grease cleanup much easier once the grease is soaked.
- You can remove grease from fabrics using rubbing alcohol and salt. This is especially helpful for fabrics (rugs, couches, etc.) that can't be washed in the washer. Use four parts rubbing oil and one part salt to make the mixture. Use a clean, dry cloth to rub the mixture into the stain. You will need to scrub very hard! After the stain has been removed, dry the area and use a vacuum cleaner to remove any salt.
